Introduction of TWGHs

  Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) is the largest and oldest charitable organization in Hong Kong with a history of 147 years. The organization provides medical, hygienic, educational and social welfare services via over 309 service units across Hong Kong island, Kowloon and New Territories. TWGHS began its nursery services in 1968, and now has 15 registered non-profit Kindergarten-cum-child care centres under its name, providing young children the age of 2 to 6 daycare and educational services, including services for handicapped children. The curriculum takes into account age development and diverse learning needs, and aims at helping young children develop their leanring attitudes and healthy habits in a pleasant environment.

  • Helping families resolve issues concerning education and caretaking, allowing parents a peace of mind, whilst seeking for progress in parenting.
  • Allowing children to learn and grow healthily and actively under the guidance and caretaking of a qualified teaching staff.
  • Allowing children to develop in a holistic manner: socially, intellectually, physically, emotionally, artistically and creatively.
  • Cultivating healthy habits, learning interest and ability to take care of oneself.

School History

  A member of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, our school began service in the September of 1990 after the Fong Shu Fook Tong Foundation had donated HK$150,000 to the cause and subsequently named it the TWGHs Fong Shu Chuen Nursery School. The school provides daycare and educational services for children in the Eastern district of Hong Kong.

Building rapport between teachers and parents

Reinforcing communication and collaboration between parents and the school; conducting different events every year

  • Holding "Parents' Meeting for Newcomers" and allowing new parents to understand the school's policies
  • Holding "Parents' Meeting for New School Year" and "Parents' Day" and allowing parents to stay connected with the curriculum and the learning progress of their children.
  • Regularly holding talks and workshops for parents so as to improve efficacy of parental education.

Assistance from multi-disciplinary team

Educational psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, speech therapists, teachers and the principal working collaboratively to render the course outline more systematic and comprehensive and the teaching more strategic, whilst providing children with timely guidance in accordance to their learning progress.

Facilities

  The nursery school is about 340 square feet in area and equipped with 3 activity rooms in which areas and corners are regularly rotated, for instance, game zone, arts and crafts, study area, everyday life practice area, book corner, math corner, puzzle corner, nature corner, dramatic play corner etc. to suit the needs of children of different ages. The school is also equipped with an indoor playground, a music room, children's washroom, kitchen, supervisor room and staff room.

Our Team

  Organization is set up with an educational psychologist and a course director, who provide the school and its curriculum with professional consultation and training. The school also has registered social workers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, who provide children and parents of the school with cross-professional services. The entire school staff – including the principal and all teachers – is caring, professionally qualified, and very experienced in pre-school education.
